Dartmouth Northware Terms of Use (v2)

Effective October 27, 2026. These terms are an agreement between you and HanoverSoft, which runs the MAE Platform and the sites built on it ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the site, you agree to them. They replace the earlier version 1.

1. Your account

  1. You must be at least 13 years old to use the site.
  2. Give us accurate information when you sign up, and keep your e-mail address current so we can reach you.
  3. Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what is done with your account; tell us at once if you think someone else has used it.
  4. One person per account. Do not use another person's account, or let others use yours.

2. Using the site

We want the site to be safe and pleasant for everyone. When you use it, you agree not to:

  1. harass, threaten, or abuse other users, or post hateful content;
  2. post anything unlawful, or anything you do not have the right to share;
  3. send spam, or use the site to advertise without our permission;
  4. try to get into accounts, data, or parts of the system that are not yours, or to probe, overload, or disrupt the service;
  5. copy or collect data from the site with automated tools, except as the site itself allows.

We may remove content, or suspend or close an account, that breaks these terms.

3. Your content

What you create on the site - your maps, descriptions, characters, messages, and files - stays yours. You give us permission to store it, copy it, and show it as needed to run the site for you and for the people you share it with. That permission ends when you delete the content or close your account, except for copies kept in backups for a limited time, or that others have already been given. You are responsible for making sure you have the right to anything you upload.

4. Selling content

Where a site lets you sell content to other users, more terms for sellers apply, and we will show them to you before you sell. To pay you, we must collect information such as your legal name, address, and tax identification, and the law may require us to report your earnings to the IRS (for example on a Form 1099).

5. Our service

The site, its software, and its own content belong to HanoverSoft and are protected by copyright. We work to keep the site running and your data safe, but the service is provided "as is": it may sometimes be unavailable, change, or have errors, and we do not promise that it will meet every need. Keep your own copy of anything important to you.

6. Limits on liability

To the extent the law allows, HanoverSoft is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost data, lost profits, or lost time, that come from using or being unable to use the site.

7. Ending your use

You may stop using the site and disable your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or that has been inactive for a long time, and we will try to tell you first.

8. Privacy

How we handle your information is described in our Privacy Statement.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we make an important change, we will tell you, and ask you to agree to the new terms before you continue using the site. The current terms are always on this page.

10. The law that applies

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, USA.
